چکیده
Abstract We propose a novel and simple method for obtaining the giant longitudinal spin Hall effect (SHE) of reflected light beam when elliptically polarized (instead linearly light) at telecommunication wavelength is obliquely incident on prism–sodium interface excited by surface plasmon resonance. By introducing spatially averaged Stokes parameter S ˉ 3 non-uniformly field, understanding generation mechanism SHE from new perspective realized. The under reaches 60.28 μ m optimal setup, splitting direction can be switched adjusting amplitude ratio angle phase difference light. These findings open way precise measurement ellipticity design fiber-optic devices.

Spin-exchange relaxation-free magnetometry using elliptically polarized light
Spin-exchange relaxation free alkali-metal magnetometers typically operate in the regime of high optical density, presenting challenges for simple and efficient optical pumping and detection. We describe a highsensitivity Rb magnetometer using a single elliptically polarized off-resonant laser beam. Circular component of the light creates relatively uniform spin polarization while the linear co...
متن کاملElliptically polarized modes for the unidirectional excitation of surface plasmon polaritons.
We propose a new method for the directional excitation of surface plasmon polaritons by a metal nanoparticle antenna, based on the elliptical polarization of the normal modes of the antenna when it is in close proximity to a metallic substrate. The proposed theoretical model allows for the full characterization of the modes, giving the dipole configuration, frequency and lifetime. As a proof of...
متن کاملFermat Principle for polarized light and the Optical Hall effect
Mimicking the description of spinning particles in General Relativity, the Fermat Principle is extended to polarized photons. Linearization of the resulting Papapetrou-Souriau type equations yields the semiclassical model used recently to derive the “Optical Hall Effect”. The shift of the planes of the incident and refracted (resp. reflected) light found by Onoda, Murakami and Nagaosa is recove...
متن کاملElliptically polarized light for depth resolved optical imaging
It is shown that using elliptically polarized light permits selecting well-defined subsurface volumes in a turbid medium. This suggests the possibility of probing biological tissues at specific depths. First, we present the method and preliminary results obtained on an Intralipid phantom. We next report on the method's performance on a biological phantom (chicken breast) and, finally, on the ex...
متن کاملSpin-torque ferromagnetic resonance induced by the spin Hall effect.
We demonstrate that the spin Hall effect in a thin film with strong spin-orbit scattering can excite magnetic precession in an adjacent ferromagnetic film. The flow of alternating current through a Pt/NiFe bilayer generates an oscillating transverse spin current in the Pt, and the resultant transfer of spin angular momentum to the NiFe induces ferromagnetic resonance dynamics. The Oersted field...
